On the E40 (Brussels-Ostend) or the E403 (Lille-Kortrijk-Bruges) motorways, take turnoff 8 for Bruges. Follow the N31. After the fifth set of traffic lights, take the ‘Brugge-Centrum – Waggelwater – AZ Sint-Jan’ turnoff, which will lead you onto the Bevrijdingslaan. Keep straight on down this road. After the third set of traffic lights, it’s about 200 m to the entrance of the ‘Centrum Zand’ underground car park.

Parking facilities
Parking is available under the Concertgebouw in the ‘Centum Zand’ car park (to reserve a space, click here). This car park closes at 1 am Sunday to Thursday and remains open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. A special evening rate (maximum € 2.50) is available to those attending cultural activities who enter the car park after 7 pm and leave it before 7 am or before closing time.

Parking spaces are available in the ‘Centrum-Station’ car park. Rates here are a maximum of € 0.50 an hour and € 2.50 a day, and your parking ticket is also valid for the bus to and from the city centre (including the Concertgebouw bus-stop). But it is not very far to walk (see directions under ‘Train’).

The Concertgebouw is barely ten minutes walk from the station. Cross the station square and the main road and turn left onto the path through the Albert Park. You can also take the bus from the station towards the city centre (bus numbers 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16 and 23) and get off at the stop next to the Concertgebouw.

Memling in Sint-Jan is held inside one of the oldest preserved hospital buildings in Europe. The museum perfectly illustrates what hospital wards/hospital life used to be like. Furniture, paintings, sculptures, silver and pewter objects evoke physical and spiritual care of centuries ago. In the hospital chapel the visitors’ attention gravitates to the painting by Hans Memling, one of the most famous Flemish Primitives.
Fifteenth-century painter Hans Memling made his most important masterpieces – such as the famous Saint Ursula Shrine for St John’s Hospital. Another must is one of the oldest and most famous monumental trusses in Europa, in the attic. The old pharmacy and herb gardens are also well worth a visit..

The Chamber Music Hall in the Lantern tower is a feast of light and shapes. The soft light inside spreads outside over the city square and creates an intense connection with the city. The chamber music hall has 300 seats on three levels. The different set-ups offer infinite possibilities of interaction between artist and audience. The soft slope and the balconies evoke the atmosphere of an intimate courtyard.

The Concert Hall has 1300 comfortable seats over three levels, with a perfect sightline. The soft slope and the compact design make for an exceptionally intimate contact between audience and artists.
The stage is equipped with state-of-the-art technical equipment and can be adapted spatially for an ideal acoustic result. The stage is perfect for music, opera, music theatre as well as dance.

The Concertgebouw bistro, serving drinks and food, is situated on the ground floor. It is the ideal location for a pre-concert chat or that all important concert analysis. It also holds the catalogue of all CDs of the bands performing at the Concertgebouw. Smoking is not allowed inside the Concertgebouw bistro, which is open every day from 11am until well after the concerts end.
